‘Wakanda Forever!’: Novel Reels to offer free showing of ‘Black Panther’

The latest offering of Novel Reels will take viewers to the African nation of Wakanda in Marvel’s “Black Panther.”

The free showing of the Avengers film will be held Friday, Aug. 5, at the Chambersburg Aquatic Center, located inside Memorial Park at 1 Washabaugh Way.

Enjoy a free pool party to escape the heat, beginning at 8 p.m. Swimming will be limited at dusk. Bring the whole family for a great night of superhero fun, free books, courtesy of the Franklin County Library System, and free popcorn.

Kirsten Hubbard, founder and executive director of Mission Solved Inc., said, “Novel Reels has a tradition of showing a superhero movie at one of four events each year. It seemed natural to choose an outdoor venue, Chambersburg Aquatic Center, to reflect the natural beauty of Wakanda! We are particularly excited by the plethora of books available to give away during the event, including those who celebrate the strong female warriors of Wakanda.”

Head to the Chambersburg Aquatic Center on Aug. 5 to watch Prince T’Challa (the late Chadwick Boseman) return home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country’s new king, but when his throne is challenged, he must strive to prevent the nation from being dragged into a world war.

Novel Reels is sponsored by Mission Solved and the Franklin County Library System, with support from the Franklin County Community Foundation – a regional foundation of the Foundation for Enhancing Communities.
